Join Us to Celebrate Our New Chapter at the Big Hub Launch Party!
By Val Tate, Chair of the Wolvercote Hub
We are delighted to invite the whole community to celebrate with us at our Big Hub Launch Party – one of the highlights of our exciting new chapter as the Wolvercote Hub.
As part of the Wolvercote and Wytham Midsummer Festival, this special event marks the beginning of a fresh new era for the Wolvercote Hub and its growing role at the heart of community life.
Taking place on Thursday 25 June from 5.30pm to 9.00pm at the Wolvercote Hub, the event will bring together local residents, families and friends of all ages for an evening of fun, connection and celebration. We are especially excited to showcase the talents of local young people through a range of performances during the evening.
The Big Hub Launch Party promises a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with highlights including Russ’s campfire gathering, live music, a BBQ and refreshments, children’s activities, and plenty of opportunities to meet neighbours old and new.
A New Vision for Our Community
Earlier this year, we unveiled our refreshed mission: to support the wellbeing of people of all ages across our community.
We want children and young people to have the best possible start in life, helping them make the most of their school years and preparing them for adulthood in an increasingly complex world. At the same time, we want people of all ages to have access to activities and opportunities that promote physical, mental and social wellbeing, particularly in later life.
Your Community. Your Hub. Your Voice.
To ensure the Wolvercote Hub continues to meet the needs of our community for years to come, we are planning significant improvements to both the building and its grounds.
After months of planning, listening and reimagining what the Hub could become, preparations for refurbishment are now underway. Throughout this journey, we are committed to keeping local residents informed, engaged and involved at every stage.
Shaped by feedback from last year’s community survey, the Launch Party will feature artists’ impressions of the proposed improvements to the building and outdoor spaces. We want to hear what you think, so please come along, take a look and share your views.
We look forward to celebrating with you on 25 June. If you can attend, please RSVP.
More About the Wolvercote Hub
Earlier this year, we introduced our new name – the Wolvercote Hub – alongside a refreshed identity and expanded vision for the future.
While Wolvercote Young People’s Club remains at the heart of everything we do, ensuring young people’s voices continue to shape our future, our ambition has grown. We are creating a welcoming community space where people of all ages can connect, participate and thrive together.
The Wolvercote Hub aims to be a place where children can grow, play and feel supported; where young people and adults can stay active, creative and connected; and where older residents can enjoy companionship, activities and a strong sense of belonging.
We offer a range of affordable and flexible spaces for hire, suitable for everything from antenatal groups and fitness classes to support groups, social clubs, meetings and celebrations. Facilities include a large sports hall, outdoor multi-use games area, lounge, media suite, kitchen, off-road parking and public electric vehicle charging.
